About the Movie

The magical world of C.S. Lewis’ beloved fantasy comes to life once again in PRINCE CASPIAN, the second installment of THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series. Join Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, the mighty and majestic Aslan, friendly new Narnian creatures and Prince Caspian as they lead the Narnians on a remarkable journey to restore peace and glory to their enchanted land. PRINCE CASPIAN is a triumph of imagination, courage, love, joy and humor your whole family will want to watch again and again.

My Thoughts

Many years ago I first heard of The Chronicles of Narnia series. I knew little about the series other than that it was Christian and involved a lion in the role of Jesus. Now, my faith has been strong since I was a child, but other than obsessing about the Harry Potter series, I just couldn’t psych myself up for a new (to me) venture into fantasy–Christian or otherwise. I’ve never been so glad to have been wrong about a choice. The Chronicles of Narnia is a wonderful series, and the second installment, Prince Caspian, is an excellent reason to return to the magical land.

From the dangers of royal life and epic battles, to family drama, to prejudice and oppression, to faith and a slight touch of romance, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is a delightful young adult movie with something for everyone from children to adults. The beginning of the movie captivated me with its soaring views of Narnia and blend of fantasy and reality. The middle came life with battles galore and the Pevensie teenagers coming to grips with their new roles within and outside of Narnia–hard lessons, no doubt, and ones that when concluded provided a beautiful ending to the movie. The escapism of magical creatures and fantastical elements contrasted with the real challenges royals face every day. I loved the way this movie used a story to teach the realities and values of royal life within the construct of a world so unlike my own that I still felt like I was escaping my regular life for a few hours. In short, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian had everything that I love in a story.

I watched The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian of my own accord on Disney+. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
