Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance

Review by Marisa Stokley

About the Movie

Chronicling the courtship and love story between a beloved prince and his new fiancée, the film examines the history of Prince Harry (Murray Fraser) and Meghan Markle (Parisa Fitz-Henley) from the moment they met after being set up by friends, through their initial courtship when they were able to keep their romance under wraps, and the intense global media attention surrounding their relationship and Meghan’s life as a divorced biracial American actress.

My Thoughts

I first began watching Lifetime movies when my interest in the royals began: in 2010 with the engagement of Prince William and Princess Catherine. I was thrilled in 2019 when Lifetime continued the tradition of chronicling royal romances via film with Prince Harry and Meghan’s story. Four years later, these movies hold the same appeal. I enjoyed watching the first of the Harry and Meghan trifecta as much in 2023 as I did upon my first watch years ago.

Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance takes viewers from the beginning of the pair meeting through the day their engagement was announced in the gardens of Kensington Palace. Brimming with gorgeous scenery and sets across London, Africa, and Los Angeles, the scenes are a delight to behold as Harry and Meghan undertake the joys and challenges of a royal romance in the spotlight. Likely some liberties were taken when adjusting their story for film, but based upon my knowledge of their romance, care for accuracy was prominent. I enjoyed seeing on screen all that I’d heard about–their love, their outings, Meghan’s gorgeous outfits, and the interactions with family members. Most of all, Murray Fraser and Parisa Fitz-Henry played their parts with the utmost respect for the emotions the real Harry and Meghan experienced.

I watched Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance on Disney+ of my own choice. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
